from vimeo: Tracking shots are achieved by using the DP slider. Its compact form factor and portability helped me to travel light which was crucial considering I had to take 2 flights and a 3-hour bus ride to get to this location.

Killer ring shots

from Australia...Paper Cranes Productions with a V-480. very cool ring shots

from Paper Cranes: "Thanks to DPslider, the ring shot can have some sliding on it. We were shooting with 100 macro 2.8 on the closeup shot. It would not be possible with the gt cause we have to focus pull while sliding."

Extra support for vertical slide on a V-1200

The longer the slider, the more it will wobble on the top of a vertical slide. This action is very similar to that of a diving board where as you get farther to the edge of the board, the more it will bounce. There are various ways to rig the slider so that it will be stable. We like to use a second tripod raised up to the same height as the upper foot and clamping the foot to the fluid head arm.

from Chris's Vimeo post:

I was pretty excited to take out my DP Slider for the first time. This is the 19inch vertical version, although I've yet to use it for vertical shots.

Shot on the Canon 7D at 1080/24 with a 16-35 2.8 L series. I'm not a filter guy, but I decided to bump the gamma with some G-Film filters that I haven't used in a while.

Lou Kulynych acted as my partner in crime and makes a cameo at the very end. He also shot some BTS which you can see here:

I would occasionally get sand in the slider, but I could easily wipe it out and go back to sliding.

User Feedback - Bill Vincent

this is a post from bill's vimeo:

This short clip was born as a functional test for the new DPSlider V-Series Slider that I just received. The version used in this clip is the 29" Slider with Manfrotto ball-head mount. Normally I wouldn't use so much slider footage in a project, but this was specifically to test it out - so there's plenty of slider shots in here.

Here's my thoughts on the Slider - this piece is, for me, a huge addition to my toolkit. It is so much more versatile than a regular horizontal slider. I don't think I've begun to scratch the surface of what this thing is capable of. It was so much fun to play with that I lost track of time completely. I can't wait to see what myself and other people come up with as far as uses for this. Don Pham should be commended, the quality of this piece is excellent, and the creative potential it unleashes is amazing. Five stars, hands down.

The camera is a Canon 7D with 50mm, 24-105mm, and 28-55mm lenses.

No pianos were harmed in the making of this clip.

Wiki from Australia

received this email today from Wiki Lee in australia.

Hi Don,

I would like to thank you to make a rapid delivery.
About the DP slider, I am happy so far... thank you so much. I love it so much.
A bit of background of who I am. I am a photographer who starts to explore cinematography. I love like the feeling of video slide.
As being a one man team, your slider is awesome... smooth, light and easy to use. Thank you..

Btw this is my first try (literally, as I dont have time to practice at all prior to the wedding)

Once again, thank you so much to make it happen.

from Wiki's blog:

In this project, it’s my first time to use DP Slider. When choosing an equipment, I always consider the versatility of the equipment to fit into my workflow and resources (for my fusion project, to shoot video and photo at the same time). The DP slider is light (compared to other sliders, I suppose as I didn’t have many chances to use other sliders) and doing great smooth sliding. I love the fact that I can utilise the slider not only horizontally but it can also slide vertically. It’s very recommended. I have to be honest to all of you, I didn’t have much time to practice prior to the wedding due to my time commitment – but it’s a breeze to use. Also a big thank you for Don Pham of DP slider to make a special priority fast delivery from US to make it in time for this wedding.

What accessories to get to go vertical?

We are getting a lot of questions on what accessories to get to do vertical slides. Here are some suggestions. Please note that these are suggestions only and we DO NOT guarantee that it will work for your specific setup.

These are what we used in the demos with the Canon 5D and Sony EX1

Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Mounting Plate (501PL)

With wider body cameras or cameras with side flip out viewfinder, you may want to try a taller ball head so that the camera will clear the carriage guide when doing vertical slides.

Thanks for your patience

We did not realize how much buzz DP Slider would create. We are overwhelmed with orders and excitement of our sliders. Please be aware that each slider is made to order as stated on the website. At the current rate, please expect 2-3 weeks before shipping of your order. We are working hard to increase production to reduce lead time.

Thanks for your patience and happy sliding.
